2.6 Identity Verification and KYC Information
As part of our compliance, security, and fraud-prevention procedures, Selligate may require merchants and distributors to complete an identity verification or Know Your Customer (KYC) process before they can use certain Selligate services.
For this purpose, we may request a government-issued identity document, such as:
- National Identification Number (NIN); or
- International Passport.
The information obtained from these documents may include your legal name and other information necessary to verify your identity.
How We Use KYC Information
We use KYC information solely for legitimate purposes connected with our compliance and security procedures, including:

- Maintaining the integrity and security of the Selligate platform and fulfillment network;
- Meeting applicable legal, regulatory, compliance, and risk-management requirements.
Retention and Automatic Deletion of Identity Documents
Selligate does not retain uploaded copies of government-issued identity documents after the KYC verification process has been completed, except where retention is specifically required by applicable law.
Once the identity verification process is successfully completed, the uploaded NIN or International Passport document is automatically deleted from our database.
This means that the identity document itself is not retained as part of your ongoing Selligate account information after verification.
Where necessary for legitimate compliance or operational purposes, Selligate may retain a record that identity verification was completed, such as the verification status, date of verification, and the name verified. Such records do not constitute retention of the uploaded identity document itself.
Protection of KYC Information
While an identity document is being processed for verification, Selligate applies appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect the information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, or misuse.
Access to KYC information is restricted to authorized personnel, systems, or verification service providers who require access for legitimate verification, security, or compliance purposes.
We do not sell or use government-issued identity documents for advertising or marketing purposes.
Third-Party Verification Providers
Where Selligate uses a third-party identity verification provider to verify an identity document, the provider may process the information solely for the purpose of performing the verification service on our behalf and subject to applicable contractual, security, and data protection requirements.
Where applicable, Selligate will take appropriate measures to ensure that such processing complies with applicable data protection laws.
Important Notice
You should only upload an identity document through the official Selligate platform or another verification channel expressly authorized by Selligate.
