Frequently Asked Questions

What is Selligate?

Selligate is an e-commerce order fulfillment solution designed for businesses that sell physical products online but have difficulty fulfilling customers’ “pay-on-delivery” orders across Nigeria due to distance.

What problem is Selligate solving and how are they solving it?

E-commerce business owners experience pains in fulfilling customers’ orders due to the prevailing “pay on delivery” demand from Nigerian customers.

This payment method helps customers avoid the issue of “what I got versus what I ordered” but many customers abuse it as they end up rejecting the products sent with some flimsy excuses.

This is frustrating the merchant because logistics costs, marketing costs, and human efforts are wasted thereby making it impossible to scale and grow e-commerce businesses in Nigeria.

We have built a robust application that helps myriads of e-commerce businesses deliver their products within 3 hours of order through the following services to mitigate the pains associated with “pay on delivery”.

Storage (Warehousing): Secure and efficient storage solutions for merchant’s inventory, ensuring safekeeping and easy access.

Speedy Order Delivery: Once we receive the merchant customer’s order, we quickly swing into action and ensure it is professionally delivered to the customer within 3 hours.

Automatic Payment Settlement: Once the order is delivered, payment received from the merchant customer will be credited to his or her account automatically.

Where is your office?

We have physical offices in Lagos and Abuja, and our fulfillment agents are in the top 40 e-commerce cities and towns across Nigeria.

Which locations do you cover?

We cover the top 40 e-commerce cities and towns across Nigeria. They are Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Warri, Osogbo, Kaduna, Kano, Uyo, Jos, Benin, Calabar, Ibadan, Ado Ekiti, Owerri, Onitsha, Umuahia, Akure, Lokoja, Makurdi, Asaba, Ughelli, Agbor, Aba, Yola, Awka, Nnewi, Eket, Yenagoa, Maiduguri, Abakaliki, Nsukka, Ilorin, Lafia, Abeokuta, Sango Otta, Minna, Ile-Ife, Sokoto, and Jalingo.

What is your delivery cost?

Our default delivery cost is N4,000. Depending on distance, it could be more than that but if the delivery would attract extra cost, we will inform you ahead.

What is your warehousing cost?

For now, warehousing is free but terms and conditions apply.

Do you do pick-up?

We don’t do pick-up but we can assist you when necessary.

Do you do interstate deliveries?

We don’t do interstate deliveries but you can choose to use our VIP bulk products movements across our locations in Nigeria.

How long does it take to remit after delivery?

Once your order is delivered, payment received from your customer is automatically credited to your account wallet. You can withdraw from your wallet anytime and your bank account is credited instantly.

Is there any other cost besides the delivery cost?

There is a monthly subscription plan for PRO users (when your business has grown) but it is free for starters. To manage the whole partnership, we have an end-to-end application that helps to ensure everything is seamless. From inventory management, order management, and tracking, to swift remittances, all are automated. The subscription is the revenue that we use to maintain the application. The delivery fee is for our distributing agents. The monthly cost of the PRO subscription is only N4,900 and it allows you to process up to 1,000 orders monthly. Imagine you process 1,000 orders of products that cost N10,000 per order, that is N10,000,000! If we remit a total of N10m to your account in a month, N4,900 out of it is fair enough for our subscription.

Do you charge for packaging?

Apart from the delivery and monthly application subscription fee, we don’t charge for anything. However, if you need our assistance in some areas like packaging, pack/airport/seaport pick-up, or interstate product movements, we can agree on the cost with you but they are optional.

Do you have a contract to sign for the e-commerce cash-on-delivery order fulfillment partnership?

Yes. We have a standard agreement for Selligate and the merchant to sign for the partnership. This helps to establish trust and mutual understanding between both parties.

Do you have the option of customer pick-up?

Yes, but for now, we have the option of customers picking up their orders from our warehouse locations only in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kaduna. The delivery cost of customer picking up is half the default delivery cost, N2,000.

How long will the merchant’s products stay in your warehouse?

A merchant’s product can stay as long as there is a continuous stock turn. We have a clause in our terms of agreement that cautions against a merchant dumping products in our warehouses without sending customers for delivery.

What are the suitable products for your order fulfillment services?

We accept legally acceptable products in Nigeria that have a maximum weight of 5kg, are non-perishable, and are properly packaged.

Do you charge for failed deliveries?

It is a two-way scenario in one: a. If we call the customer and he says he is not ready or no longer interested, we won’t charge you. It’s free! b. If we call the customer and he asks us to come and deliver, we will go immediately. If the customer rejects the product based on “what I ordered versus what I got” or any other flimsy reasons, we will share the pains of the failure with you 50:50. You will pay only half of the delivery cost.
